Opt-out and removal
SponsorHound lists brands, shows and short quotes from public podcast and newsletter feeds. If you'd rather not be in it, tell us and we'll take you out.
Who can ask
- Podcasters and newsletter publishers who want their show, its episodes and quotes removed.
- Brands (or their agencies) who want their brand and its sponsor reads removed.
- Anyone named in a quote who wants that quote removed, or wants to use their privacy rights (see the privacy policy).
How to ask
Email support@sponsorhound.com with the subject "Removal request" and:
- what to remove: the show's feed URL or website, the brand's name and website, or a link to the quote;
- your connection to it (for example, you host the show or work for the brand).
We may ask you to confirm from an email address on the show's feed or the brand's domain, so that nobody can remove someone else's listing. We don't ask for a reason.
What happens next
- We confirm within 5 business days.
- We add the brand or show to our suppression list. At the next weekly data refresh it's removed from every table, the search index and all answers, usually within 7 days of confirmation.
- It stays on the suppression list, so later refreshes leave it out too.
- Answers that people's AI assistants received before the removal aren't under our control.
Stop our collector from reading your feed
Our collector honours robots.txt. To keep it away from your feed, add this to the
robots.txt of the host that serves the feed:
User-agent: SponsorDataEngine
Disallow: /
It identifies itself with a user agent starting SponsorDataEngine/, reads each feed about once a week
and uses conditional requests. A robots.txt block stops future collection. To also remove what is
already listed, send a removal request as above.
Corrections
If we've attributed a sponsor read to the wrong brand, or something that isn't an ad, tell us at the same address with a link to the quote. Corrections also apply at the next refresh.
